Of all the ways in which leaders and managers have available to them for development there can be little doubt that the increase in interest of executive coaching as either an adjunct to traditional learning and development or as a resource in its own right has developed a significant level of interest over a good number of years.
Coaching within organisations goes back at least 25 years and we have been actively involved in coaching middle and senior managers for as many years.
Our coaching often involves the use of assessment tools and psychometric tests as a starting point for the identification of what development might be needed through a coaching intervention. In many instances, the coachee is very well aware of what is needed as this might have been raised with their line manager through an appraisal or through their team as part of a 360° feedback process.
We do believe it important to work closely with and how to advise our coaching clients and organisations as to the best way of meeting their individual or collective needs taking into account what may have already gone on before though also proposing our own suggestions for how issues raised might be dealt with through coaching intervention.
In addition to coaching individuals or those within organisations we also train coaches and our programmes are accredited by the Chartered Management Institute. You can find out more about these programmes by visiting the website at www.developingmanagers.org
