We were engaged by the Chartered Management Institute as expert consultants to assist them in the creation of a suite of leadership and management development materials to support students and Centres in the delivery of their Management and Leadership qualifications.
The project started with the syllabus for the Level 3 qualifications in First Line Management and the first task was to create a set of workbooks that would beat the needs of the syllabus covering a broad range of all of the topics with each workbook containing all of the materials that students and Colleges would need to help them with the learning materials needed for each topic in the range of qualifications.
These drew heavily on our expertise in creating workbooks and e-learning that would support management and leadership qualifications and that would also cover a broad range of topics from managing people, finance, quality, marketing et cetera.
In addition to the workbooks we were also commissioned to create a suite of case studies with each case study being designed to meet the learning outcomes contained within the associated workbook. Additionally, we were also asked to ensure that each of the case studies was focused on a different industry e.g. public sector, engineering, construction, media etc.
Following the success of the Level 3 qualifications we were further commissioned to work on the Level 5 qualifications for Middle Managers and once again a suite of workbooks were created to support each of these subjects in this qualification.
Recognising that students and Colleges making use of these materials were working at a distance from the Chartered Management Institute we were further commissioned to create a Tutor Guide and a Student Guide; the Tutor Guide was written with the purpose of supporting tutors in colleges and Universities deliver successfully the CMI qualifications. In the case of the Student Guide this was written to particularly help students who were studying via a distance learning route way or perhaps with very little tutor interaction giving them an indication and some insights into the advantages and disadvantages of a distance learning mode and helping them make the best use of the workbooks that they had been provided with.
